Movie Review: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013)

I'm sorry for delaying the Perpetual Motion Club. But I watched this movie today, and I've been getting increasing worked up about it. Between listening to the soundtrack on loop and reading opinions on the movie, I am getting very very angry.

Title: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
Director: Harald Zwart
Starring: Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell-Bower, Robert Sheehan, Lena Heady, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers
Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance, Action
Release Date: 22 August 2013
Warnings: Bit of kissing, fighting, no gore though. There's a few creepy elements involved.

I almost didn't include the Rotten Tomatoes button. I'm extremely angry with the reviewers there. You'll see why. But just, bear with the fact that I'm typing this while extremely worked up and angry here.

Book Review: Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs (Miss Peregrine #1)

I know, I'm way overdue with The Perpetual Motion Club, which seems pretty interesting so far. But my ARC reading time has been forcibly cut down, and I had this old thing lying around that I hadn't read yet. Also my review was written when I was high on adrenaline from watching City of Bones and listening to the soundtrack on loop.

Title: Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine #1)
Author: Ransom Riggs
Genre: Historical Fiction, Paranormal, Horror, Young Adult
Publication Date: 7th June 2011
Trigger Warnings: Visually triggering, I suppose? There's some mild horror, especially in the pictures. Be warned.

Book Review: Surfacing by Shana Norris (Swan's Landing #1)

Whoa so it's been ages since I've posted anything, mostly because I've been procrastinating on this book and also because I started watching Bones. But I received this book from Shana Norris via NetGalley and I'm delighted to review this.

Title: Surfacing (Swan's Landing #1)
Author: Shana Norris
Genre: Fantasy, Teen romance
Publication Date: 11 November 2012
Trigger Warnings: Um nothing. I guess slight topics about her mom dying, so death?
Spoiler Alert: Spoilers. Since the book already came out. But not too many plot points given away, just enough for my honest opinion.

Book Review: Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan (Sky Chasers #1)

So this is like the first book i've actually finished since I got obsessed with Homestuck. While trying to tone it down, my reading is still slow so yeah. But this book at least.

Title: Glow (Sky Chasers #1)
Author: Amy Kathleen Ryan
Genre: Sci-fi, adventure, a lot of religious crap going on there too.
Publication Date: 13 September 2011
Warnings: Some violence, you know, typical killing.

Feature and Follow Friday #8

Wow so I haven't done one of these for AGES. I've been procrastinating, I guess.

This week's featured blogger is:

The Mile Long Bookshelf

How do you handle a book you don't like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

Well, since I've been reading lots lately, a lot of plots have been repeating for me and I get faced with this situation more that I'd like. I really try to appreciate books. So I usually end up enjoying a plot enough to finish it.

If I really hate it that much, I usually procrastinate on it, you know, surfing the net, reading other books and watching TV shows, but I usually pull myself through to the end. There are a few books, of course that I've completely given up on. But they are very few. And I usually stop with the intent to try again some time in the future. I never throw books out for this reason.

And so concludes my RETURN TO FEATURE AND FOLLOW FRIDAY!
